Vineyard
Our home vineyard is situated in the heart of the swan valley wine region on the banks of the swan river
The ancient deep alluvial soils and readily available water make for excellent grape growing conditions. The long warm sunny days combined with the cooling afternoon effects of the famous Fremantle Doctor mean that grapes regularly reach optimum ripeness levels well before the turn of the season. A traditionally dry growing season allows us to be extremely judicious in the use of pesticides, only using what is necessary to get us through to harvest.
More recently we have begun exploring some alternative varieties suited to warmer climates. We look forward to showing these off in coming years!
First Planted
The first vines were planted on the site around 1836. The current oldest vines on the Estate were planted in 1930, with a large portion of blocks also dating back to the 1950’s.
