The Story Of The Mark
At Nikola Estate, The Mark is more than just a wine — it is a tribute. Named in honour of Mark Yukich, father to Graeme, Kim and Dianne Yukich, and patriarch of the Yukich family, this wine celebrates a legacy of dedication, resilience, and a deep connection to the land.

Mark was a man of quiet determination and vision. His passion for the vineyard was unwavering — always among the vines, sleeves rolled up and hands in the soil, guiding each season with care and pride. His presence was constant through every vintage, right up until his passing in June 2023. Today, his influence remains deeply rooted in the foundations of Nikola Estate, and lives on through this wine.

For this release of The Mark Chardonnay, fruit was sourced from the renowned Margaret River region — one of Western Australia’s most celebrated regions for world-class Chardonnay. Known for its maritime climate and exceptional vineyard sites, Margaret River produces Chardonnay of remarkable purity, finesse and balance. The fruit selected for this wine was chosen for its intensity, elegance and ability to express both place and craftsmanship.

Only 1,000 bottles of The Mark have been produced, each individually numbered and crafted to represent the pinnacle of Western Australian winemaking. The “M” on the label stands not only for Mark, but also for the mark of excellence — a symbol of the high standards, dedication and passion he brought to the vineyard every day.

The Mark stands as a lasting tribute — a Chardonnay of elegance and distinction that honours the man whose legacy continues to shape Nikola Estate.

TASTING NOTES
Lifted aromas of grapefruit pith and citrus intertwine with savoury notes of curry leaf, flinty gunflint and struck match, with subtle hints of cream and well-integrated oak adding further complexity. The palate is rich and full-bodied, showing a creamy, well-rounded texture with layers of citrus and savoury characters supported by fine acidity and a long, elegant finish. Hand-picked fruit was whole bunch pressed directly to barrel with full solids, undergoing wild fermentation before maturing for nine months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak. The finest barrels were hand selected and bottled as this limited release of just 1,000 bottles. A complex and refined Chardonnay that pairs beautifully with roast chicken.
